ISLAMABAD – A 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, a private TV channel reported.
The quake was centered near Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan at a depth of 157 kilometres, shaking buildings in, Swat, Malakand and adjoining areas. No loss of life or property damage has been reported so far.
Afghanistan is frequently hit by earthquakes – especially in the Hindu Kush mountain range – which lies near the junction of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
