ISLAMABAD: Former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi has decided to challenge the court’s sentence of 16 years in prison in high court.
His lawyer showed up in court and asked for approval of his release on bail. In another development on Tuesday, a local court in Islamabad had released former Director General (DG) Hajj’s alleged frontman Ahmed Faiz on bail in Hajj corruption case.
Apart from Hamid Saeed and Ahmed Faiz, other men who had been convicted in the case include two former senior officials of the religious affairs ministry, Aftab Islam and Rao Shakil, who had been awarded 16 and 40 years jail term respectively.
