ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has prepared recommendations to investigate the assets of parliamentarians.
According to sources, the Election Commission secretariat, on the directions of the Chief EC, has finalised the recommendations to probe the assets of parliamentarians. A detailed briefing will be given on the return of the Chief Election Commissioner to the homeland and recommendation after the Chief Election Commissioner’s approval will be presented in its electoral recommendation committee. It is vital to mention here that the electoral recommendation committee has already approved the investigation of assets of parliamentarians every year in the last meeting of the committee.
However, recommendations regarding the procedure of probing have been prepared. It has been urged in the recommendations that the Election Commission will investigate the assents and the ECP will be supported in this regard. Sources added that Political Finance Bill of the ECP has been restored to probe assets of parliamentarians after which investigation of assets will be commenced.
